Your last Newspoint for a few months, a Message from the co-chairs of Churches Together in Kent. Farewell from Chris.

A Message from the Co-Chairs of Churches Together in Kent

The County Ecumenical Officer, Chris Ruddle,  has resigned from his role serving Churches Together in Kent from the end of December 2017 in order that he can focus on other aspects of his ministry as a Baptist minister.  We will be sorry to lose Chris who has undertaken his responsibilities with imagination and energy.

Chris’s departure comes about at a time of change in the ecumenical landscape of our country.  At a local level there are numerous mission initiates springing up where churches of different traditions are coming together to serve their communities in the name of Jesus and to make the good news of God’s love known.  The leaders of Churches Together in Kent are committed to praying for and supporting these initiatives; Churches Together groups and county wide organisations. They are an expression of Jesus’ prayer that his people should be one.  We meet together regularly to pray and to confer and will be doing so again for 24 hours in December.  At that meeting we will be giving attention to finding the way forward for Church Together in Kent over the next few years.

If you have any enquiries or need information please consult the person responsible for ecumenical work in your denomination or email CTKentHub@yahoo.co.uk

Salamata's story.  Salamata has always strived to provide for her family, but with so little food available, her children became malnourished. With our help her family is now much healthier and happier.

Supporting Christian Aid’s Christmas Appeal this year will mean many more families in Burkina Faso and South Sudan will have enough to eat.  And, with UK Government matched funding, every pound donated will be doubled!

As One Voice worship conference will be gathering worshippers on 4th November.  Seeking to reach out across Kent to connect, grow and engage with heaven's heart for worship in our region and beyond.

Christian Think Tank "Theos" has done some research into the state of ecumenism in England. Download the research here. ctkent.us7.list-manage.com/track/clickThe Presidents of CTE have said, “We are grateful to Theos for its work in compiling this Report. We hope that, with widespread study and discussion, it will help us grow closer to each other in our shared pathways of discipleship and in the mission we hold in common.”

This is my last Newspoint. There will not be one in December, but I've been assured that the church leaders want to restaet them some time in the New Year. Please bear with them as they make and implement decisions about the future.

I will be in post until 10th December. After that date, please contact one of the co-chairs of Churches Together in Kent with any enquiries. They would prefer that your primary way of making contact is via the email address that I've been using: CTKentHub@yahoo.co.uk. The co-chairs are both incredibly busy church leaders so unless there is an urgency to your contact request, please do use that email address. This email will be monitored, but please do not expect a swift response.

If there's something urgent though, here are their contact details. Bishop Trevor Wilmott (01227 459382) or Chair of District John Hellyer (01293 813970).  Do pray for the Church Leaders group as they consider the future directions of Churches Together in Kent.

For any financial issues, please contact Dawn Kellers, treasurer of Churches Together in Kent, directly on 07961 935134 or by post at 21 Aspen House, West Terrace, Folkestone, Kent. CT20 1TH. While contributions by cheque are very welcome please send them to Dawn!

I have nothing but admiration and respect for those who give their time and energy to promote Christian unity. You are a very special kind of people who see the big picture of God's kingdom and it has been a pleasure to work with you. Every blessing as you live out the truth that Jesus Christ only has one Church. In our unity, others see our Saviour.

Once more, farewell. It's been fun.

Your servant in Christ,

Chris.
